Id been debating for quite a while if I wanted to read any of the Disney Twisted Tales books. I’d read mixed reviews on the earlier books so in the end I just put them on my to be read list. I then started seeing the book Instagram and decided it would be worth a read. Im glad I did as it was very good.

Im not usually someone who likes remakes or twists on traditional tales but this one I quite liked. It was similar enough that you definitely knew you where reading Mulan but not so that I thought I’d read it before.

I thought Elizabeth done really well at incorporating the mythology and Chinese underworld. It all felt very real.  The characters where also very well written and were just like the original characters which made the book believable.

The references to previous bits in the movie was also included very well.

Overall, I think the book was well written and the story was very good I would definitely recommend reading it.
